Brief Introduction of Pop Music School
With the development of society, in order to adapt the market demand and perfect the discipline construction, SCCM, in 2001, took the lead in founding the first Pop Music School in China. The foundation of Pop Music School of SCCM plays a leading part in pop music education. In recent years, Pop Music School has got great harvests in teaching and obtained outstanding achievement in and abroad.
The principle of the school is to build first-class teacher camp, set up first-rate quality of teaching, strive for first-class teaching result and to educate first-class art talent. By learning the teaching and management experience from the international first-class higher education of pop music and adhering to the philosophy that training professional and versatile students, being outstanding in ethic and art, serving the public and leading the way, the school is striving for building a popular music school with world-class standard and Chinese characteristics.
Till now, the school has already formed a perfect pop music educational system for teaching, scientific research and art practice. There are six majors which consist of more than ten professional directions, namely, pop songs singing, music making and recording project, pop song and dance, pop instrument, modern music literature and modern pop dance. Among them, from the specialized name to the content of courses, most are the domestic initiation which fills the blank of pop music education in the national higher art education.
Thanks to the advanced education philosophy, scientific specialty offer, first-class teachers and the strict management system, the school has got a good opportunity of rapid development. In the past few years, the teachers and students of the school obtained the award frequently in all kinds of domestic pop music competitions. The representatives are “super girl”-- Li Yuchun and He Jie, “super boy”—Wei Chen and Wang Zhengliang. Others are as the following: national top ten in “Dream China” held by CCTV; the champion of national PUB singers’ competition; the third of the national final of SOGO girl; the champion of the final of Chinese new singers’ competition in Asia music festival; the champion of national competition of rising star; the second place of youth group of vocal competition in World Chinese Arts Festival; the second place of the first pop music talent selection contest held by Cultural Ministry; the third place of the eleventh National Young Singers TV Competition; the champion of the eleventh National Young Singers TV Competition in Sichuan division and Qiaodao division; the champion of the twelfth National Young Singers TV Competition in Shanxi division, Guizhou division, Fujian division and Chinese Record Company division; the best male singer and female singer of 1st China Gold Bell AwardPop Music Competition in Central China division; the champion of the first and second Sichuan Vocal Competition. The awards in different competitions are numerous. Among them, the publication of the stamps which focus the image of Li Yuchun as the theme and Li’s twice shows on the cover of Times represent the praise to the school from the domestic and abroad. Last year, the school successfully held 2007 Pop Music Education Forum in Art College of China which was also the first “House Cup” invitation game that represented our school has already been at the very front of scientific research of pop music.
The outstanding achievement attracted many important medium, well-known record companies and music producing houses. They, including CCTV, Hunan TV, Warner, Avex Group, EEG (Emperor Entertainment Group) and Tianyu Mass Media Limited Company, regard the school as an important cooperation unit and source of talent.
