Original Tap-dance Dream Pursuing in Competition in Beijing
On March 20, 2009, the original dance Dream Pursuing, choreographed by young teacher Fanlin, stood out in more than 200 dance works and got the award of the National Top Ten in the final of Tap Dance Honor Roll held by CCTV Dance World Column.
In this competition, there were many professional tap dancers from Shanghai, Beijing and other parts of the country, including the first and second Lord of tap dance. Most The contestants have 3 to 10 years’ tap dance experience, so it was not easy for our students, who have engaged in tap dance for only half a year, to get the award of the National Top Ten. Such great achievement is also a major breakthrough in the tap dance field of Modern Dance Department .
“Dream Pursuing”is a piece of work which breaks the traditional performance forms of tap dance. It combines movement materials of several types of dance and makes use of fans as the props. The dance left strong visual impact and artistic attraction to the judges and audience and it was highly praised by the judges and directors of CCTV. Before and after the competition, teachers and students of our school accepted special interviews by CCTV.
Applying the choreography of combining the popular dance elements with tap dance, the work is closed to life and consists of 3 parts, which indicates young people’s hard work of realizing dreams in real life. All the players of the dance were students from Modern Dance Department .and Tang Yuqian impromptu performed the main type of dance of Modern Dance Department .

This competition provided us a communication stage of tap dance. It not only enhanced students’ performing skills on the stage, but also improved their professional skills.
