Passion from Swing—on Special Performance Concert by BOOS MA BAND

       At 7 p.m., January 6, the first performance of Pop Instruments Department in 2009 was successfully held in the small music hall. BOOS MA BAND consists of two excellent young teachers named Lu Yan and Sun Shiwei from Pop Instruments Department and three music players from abroad. And it is a jazz band whose main style is Bop.
       Many teachers, students and jazz fans were attracted to enjoy the performance. The performance began with a piece of jazz drum solo by Mr. Sun Shiwei and warm applause. During the performance, the band played much famous jazz works, such as Impressions by John Coltrane, Blue In Green by Miles Davis and so on. Ah Waguli recomposed by Mr. Luyan, which harmoniously combined traditional music of our country and jazz, turned to be an attractive part in the performance. As a guest player, The well-known local singer Zhao Qi sang two songs. He impromptu played solo with the music players by imitating the sound of trumpet through vocal imitation. The audience was highly intoxicated by their fantastic performance.  Then Mr. Zhang Defeng joined in, and a piece of wonderful bass slap led the performance to the climax. Two and a half hours had passed until the audience was aware of it. The last program of the performance, The Chicken, was played by Mr. Zhang Defeng, Mr. Cao Yeyan, Mr. Qin Yudong and the band. Every player had great impromptu performance.
       The performance ended with the warm applause by the audience.  As the first the first communication performance of Pop Music School of SCCM in 2009, the performance not only represents that Pop Instruments Department emphasizes art practice, but also demonstrates that the teachers and students of Pop Instruments Department have a good command of specialty and comprehensive quality. It is highly spoken of by leaders, teachers and students from different faculties. What’s more, it shows the determination that the specialty    development of our school reaches out to the overall environment of pop music in the world.
